Louis Vuitton is bringing a new art exhibition to Hong Kong for a preview! The company is in the works to set up a permanent art foundation in Paris that will house some of the brilliant creations and collaborations Vuitton has done throughout the years as major fashion label. The purpose of the foundation is to share the major involvement the brand has had with the art world. In preparation for the completion of this foundation, Vuitton is bringing a preview of what is to come to Hong Kong. The exhibit will be called “Louis Vuitton: A Passion for Creation” and will run during Hong Kong’s 17th Annual French May Art Festival. The specific dates for the Vuitton exhibit will be from May 22nd to August 9th .

A piece to watch out for is a model of the Frank Gehry designed building (as above picture) that will house the foundation in Paris. It is without doubt a one of a kind creation and one that will need to be seen in person upon completion to really get the full effect. However, until the building is complete in 2012, the model will have to suffice. Pieces by Jeff Koons, Andreas Gursky, Pierre Huyghe, Gilbert & George and Jean-Michel Basquiat, plus videos from Rosemarie Trockel, Wolfgang Tillmans, Ange Leccia, Philippe Parreno, Zhou Tao and Ryan Trecartin, will be included in the Hong Kong preview along with many others. The Vuitton exhibit is just another step towards Hong Kong’s quest to become the art hub of Asia.
