Not Chaca the genus in the catfish family, in fact, Chaca is the name of the new must have jewelry collection of designer, Chaca Jacoben.  Her unique work is always ahead of the Copenhagen street trends, hand made and very limited.

Living in London now, in her 2nd year of study in jewelry design.  Femmething is glad to catch up with Chaca herself for some Q & A.

Hi Chaca!  Where are you from?
I’m from Denmark, Copenhagen.

Where are you at?
I live in London.  I just moved to a really nice house in Islington, so happy.  I moved here over a year ago to study jewellery design.  I’m in my second year now.

What do you do?
I’m a jewellery designer.  I started my own jewellery brand “CHACA”  in 2007 after studying to be a goldsmith in Copenhagen.  I started to get more and more interested in working with plastic and other non pressures materials so I made decided to study jewellery in London at Middlesex University in London.

What is your inspiration?
Lots of stuff….   Going to museums, looking at other designers,

Lots of times i get really inspired from going out raving.  I love to look at people dressing up and get ideas from that and i’m quite “open minded” when im out…

I just got inspired by sausages.  I love to make home made sausages so i thought that it could be fun to make a gold chain necklace with black and white sausages on.

Who is your current pin up?
My dog Boris!!!  He’s is super cool!

Cool! Name one thing that you really want to do but haven’t done yet.
Go to thailand, japan and china and eat lot of nice food for half a year. ***love asian food***

When and where did you feel most alive?
Hmmmm hard question…!!!!   Maybe every time im low on cash…  hahahaha

What got you to where you are today?
Believing in my self and going out lots.  Clubbing is super good for net working.

I know you are a friend of Nic, what’s he like?
He’s really sweet.  We lived together for a couple of weeks in Corfield Street–super flat mate and always up for a dance at fabric.

Any chance of your creations coming to asia?
i would love that!!!!  But have no clue about where to begin…  any ideas???

Sure thing!  We would love to see your stuff here in Asia!

Hoping to see your next collection very soon!  We know we’ll be hearing a lot of you!
