The cool innovative coil lamp of Craighton Berman definitely caught our attention. The simple chic lamp using just a single electrical cord coils and wrapped a laser cut clear acrylic form and power by a single light bulb. It transforms the humble status of the extension cord into a high fashion chic lamp in just minutes. How wonderful.
Have you ever heard of a “Coat Hanger tribute” to an airport? No? Yes? Well, Kolja Clemens sure loves Tempelhof airport in Berlin a lot. One year after the airport closed down, The Wardrobe Tempelholf came into existence by Kolja Clemens for furniture brand Mom. The hangers are made by the same material – aluminum and share the same shape of the legendary C-47. Perhaps Kolja Clemens is a big fan of planes; if not, the Tempelholf Airport sure marked an importance in Kolja’s heart.

There is a special place in Athens in the Kolonaki shopping district where a unique shop NUMBER 3 is. We are not talking about just fashion, but the shop interior as well. Since its operation in 2008, the shop has been generating buzz with all fashionistas and Comme des Garcons fans. The reason is simple, it was the continuation of the Guerilla store legacy by CDG in Athens. It was actually a store which belongs to the new generation “like boys” fans by Comme des Garcons.
Rei Kawakubo, the sole owner of CDG wants to see how an entrepreneur could develop their new generation store by having the knowledge and the standards set forth from the previous stores. Designed by Dimitris Papadopoulous the owner himself with Yiannis Kondilis. The concept is simple and pretty basic focusing on “white, light and bright” to continue using the reference of the former Guerrilla Store 2. Then a beautiful baby is born. According to the owner, they want to promote style in every possible way, not just fashion per se; that is… carefully selected fashion for substantial personal expression’s sake.
We are wondering if CDG will set up more guerrilla stores like this in our part of the world. And we are anticipating the good news soon we hope!
The award winning artist and designer Enoc Armengol apparently is very good with bread. The art project Panpaati or Eating Design is definitely 100% alive and made of eatable bread! Why bread you may ask.
According to Enoc Armengol’s words: “The bread represents a direct connection with nature. Using food is the most simple way to represent forms and to create something physically, similar to what Leonarddo ad Vinci and Dali did in the past to create their prototypes or what children usually use to easily generate volumes to express their ideas.”
Check out the making of video, the art pieces look so yummy but we still can’t bear to eat them! Maybe a small little piece, can?

Introducing Ivan Navarro if you haven’t heard his name already, is an artist who like to play with fluorescent light transforming daily items into a work of art. His objectives of his work is to interact with the viewers and highlight the social and political implications that result in his compositions. One of our favorite “You Sit, You Die” is a lounge chair built from white fluorescent lights which to the artist is “his version of electric chair”.
“I make spaces in a fictional way to deal with my own psychological anxiety,” Navarro says.
This is how he shines light into his work. You like what you see?
“It was a flash I had one morning, that I then brought to reality in the decor and in the collection.” said Karl Lagerfeld. It is the inspiration behind Chanel’s Neon Baroque collection. The collection is mainly on pastel and silver accompanied by peachy tulles, laces and chiffons; embroideries and leather mittens in hammered pewter. Almost 1, 300 hundred hours were spent by Chanel’s Metiers d’Art ateliers bringing the dresses to life. Here we see how their effort of putting a Haute Couture show together and the pins and needles behind the scenes work in progress.

Haute Couture is never part of our life whether on our side of the fashion world or in our country. The creations are way too expensive and complicated to make, let alone to throw a show. Our designers rather to custom made to their clients then to Haute Couture eventhough the term is greatly misused in our part of the world. But here is the time of Haute Couture again even economy is bad but this is one thing that the fashion designers, stylists, hair stylists, make-up artists, advertisers, fashion writers, editors, fashion photographers anticipate and many related creative field people are crazy about.
They long for Haute Couture show from each designer house, because it is all about creativity and see what the designer is up to; and it will inspire probably thousands of fashion enthusiast on their fashion work. An expensive production indeed, here is to take a look at Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring Summer 2010, enjoy the couture world.
