After being delayed for two months, The Loft’s much anticipated spiritual successor Barsonic is set to open up for business this December. First thing, cover charge dodgers beware - unlike the usual Twilight Action Girl Friday Night’s of yore, there will be no more guestlists or free entry before midnight. Yep, no more arriving at 1am and calling up everyone you know to try and pull some strings.
However, the guys in charge aren’t as stupid as to stick two fingers up at the loyal crowd that made the joint THE party to be at. Now you’re eligible for permanent free entry ONLY by joining the Barsonic Facebook Group. There’s some terms and conditions, which some may find annoying, but hey - it’s either that or stump up for the cover charge …
Technical details out the way, Barsonic is not only much physically larger than The Loft was, but it’s also aiming to make the whole indie night movement bigger and badder than it was before. Apart from the staple Friday TAG nights, the Lapsap crew will now be having two resident night’s a month. One which they’ll be spinning themselves, and the other being Lapsap & Co Presents, which will see them bringing down the hottest acts from around and about.
Better sign up quick, as the TAG boys will be kicking things off at 10pm on December 6th!
Also, look out for Lapsap to launch their resident night at Barsonic on December 13th with a surprise act all the way from the UK, whilst the first Lapsap & Co Presents will be held on December 20th and will feature Bangkok’s finest, DJ Knatz!

It is still worth checking out Wong Chee Meng’s art exhibition, Inward although all the pieces are sold out on the first day of his solo show @ Gallerie Taksu.
Artist Wong Chee Meng’s sight was impaired through an accident that left him with a condition known as stereo-blind, which is the inability to differentiate between shapes, dimension and depth.
As a result, Chee Meng’s fractures and flattens perspective. His paintings are not quite ‘out of focus’, they instead definitively record a unique view of the world.
Chee Meng’s works have an exciting visual acceleration, fluttering between layers of unconventional colour and an intricate web of dots, lines and forms. Overall, they appear out of register, a little like a flawed screenprint.
Exhibition runs from 23rd October 2008 to 8th November 2008
TAKSU Kuala Lumpur 17 Jalan Pawang, Keramat Hujung, 54000 Kuala Lumpur 03-42514396/0342515953
Chanel’s mobile art pavilion has landed in Central Park. This is definitely an exhibition not to be missed if you happened to be in New York. Ochestrated by Karl Lagerfield, Zaha Hadid was handpicked to design the first ever traveling museum, a pavilion designed to house art exhibits designed for Chanel. 20 international contemparory artists will exhibit work inspired by the elements of Chanel’s legendary quilted bag.
Zaha Hadid’s pavilion is a piece of artwork by itself. A traveling project, with entry free to all, there is no reason not to check out the exhibition housed within an exhibition itself. To quote Karl Lagerfield “….design and architecture are the real art of today“.
The art-architecture-fashion collaboration will travel the globe from 2009 until 2010. For more information, check out http://chanel-mobileart.com.
